The Isolation Tapes

John Lennon - Nobody Told Me All You Need Is Instant Karma, Love

A cataclysmic collision of classics, yet another excuse to (over)play everything. An absolute blast to bring together for Lennon’s birthday in 2022, all in all about 3 years of planning and 2 days of execution. My kind of schedule!

John Lennon - Love

Performed in a sort of tribute to John on the anniversary of his devastating murder in 1980, from the comfort of an abandoned Hospital in the upper-mid Wythenshawe area.

ELO - Mr Blue Sky

A semi-commission this one - performed and recorded for my hometown’s tv show.

They Might Be Gillans - Birdhouse In Your Soul

I always thought this warranted the full Beatles treatment; so here you go!

The Beatles - And Your Bird Can Sing

Imagine if you fed the Beatles into a machine that Beatle-ises things. Then you fed the results through again. You still wouldn’t be anywhere near the ‘Beatles on Steroids’ sound of this musical monstrosity. It has every drum fill I’ve ever dreamed up in there somewhere.

STAVING OFF THE MADNESS…

“One man staves off insanity by venturing further into it with the optimistic hope of bursting out the other side; ego, intellect and undercrackers fully intact.”

That’s how I saw it going in, and I guess to a certain degree it really did help. Good to focus up my creative energies in these occasional flurries of production. An ongoing series, sporadic and enjoyable to bring together when the notion arises.

Requests for future Isolation Tapes are still more than welcome; I’m planning to remain isolated waaaaay after they tell us it’s ‘cool to leave our fun bunkers and start foraging in the dirt for sustenance once more’.
